In-person and virtual hours are Tuesday-Friday: 10am-6pm, with some Saturday and evening availability. I am committed to responding to all scheduling inquiries within 48 hours.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL OR IN PERSON THERAPY?
Both! I am available for telehealth appointments for all of South Carolina, and in-person for those local to Charleston, SC.
WHAT TYPE OF SESSION FREQUENCY CAN I EXPECT IF WE BEGIN WORK TOGETHER?
Every client's therapy journey is unique, and how long you need to engage in therapy is influenced by many factors including the nature of your specific symptoms and goals and how you address them, your schedule and life circumstances, therapeutic availability, and ongoing life challenges. At Labyrinth, I recommend an initial scheduling frequency of weekly to begin, as there is a lot of information to cover, trust to build, and momentum to create in order to move you toward your stated goals. Depending on your goals and progress, we can then move to biweekly or triweekly sessions. I will address my initial recommendation based on what I learn about the above factors on our consultation call! At this time I do not see new clients monthly as I’ve found this frequency does not support lasting change and met goals. My goal as a therapist is to promote the foundational change, skills and tool-building needed to become your own main support partner.
DO YOU ONLY SEE PEOPLE RELATED TO YOUR SPECIALTIES?
It’s helpful for therapists to clarify their niches, but they are not the only areas in which I work! General issues like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, women’s issues/identity, trauma, life transitions, etc. are absolutely areas in which I offer holistic processing and healing support. Call or email today for a consultation to find out if we may be the right fit or how I can help with a referral.
WHAT IS YOUR COUNSELING STYLE?
I work in a warm and relational style that values unfiltered honesty (swear as much as you want!), collaboration between therapist and client, and room for a sense of humor in the midst of an often difficult process. I use a variety of approaches to therapy including internal family systems, attachment theory, ego states, and EMDR. I enjoy working with clients who really want to get to the root of what is showing up in their life to create lasting change and healing. I have a special passion for supporting those who work in academia, creative and artistic industries, hospitality, and medical professionals including animal medicine.
WHY LABYRINTH?
Life can often feel like a maze, an intentionally confounding riddle with no clear way through. Labyrinths are structured differently than mazes, with a unicursal path to the center that serves as a meditative guide, rather than a pathway that needs solving. Labyrinths teach us that we weren’t born to get life done, but to be fully here. They challenge our linear, achievement-based mindsets, encouraging us that there are no parts or places in ourselves that aren’t worth revisiting in the midst of gradual and complex self-discovery.
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
The best way to make an appointment is to leave a voicemail on my confidential line at 843-212-7061, email me at abigail@labyrinth-counseling.com, or fill out the contact form on this website. I will respond within 72 hours. If this is your first time looking into therapy, I’m so glad you’re here! It’s normal to feel anxious calling someone you don’t know for help. I will do everything I can to make the intake process as smooth as possible.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I do not accept insurance at this time and can provide a superbill for insurance providers upon request.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
Individual session- 50 minutes: $140
Couples session- 60 minutes: $180
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including therapy services. Contact me or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises for more information.
ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS?
I am available for speaking engagements; inquiries about speaking fees and specific calendar availability can be sent to abigail@labryinth-counseling.com.
WHY DON’T YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
Accepting insurance unfortunately presents many limitations to our work together. When using insurance, insurance companies with no clinical mental health training decide your course of treatment and how many of those sessions will be covered by them. They also require a diagnosis to be put in your medical records, and not everyone that comes to therapy has a clinically significant mental health diagnosis. Not accepting insurance allows me to customize your treatment plan instead of backing me into a medical model of treatment, and it also allows me to take on less clients. Having less clients means I am empowered to spend more time customizing and investing in the best treatment for you as well as researching ways to best help you outside of sessions. I understand that therapy is an investment especially when you are paying out of pocket, and I believe it can be one of the most life-changing and foundational personal investments a person can make. I also understand some people will not be able to pay out of pocket. If you wish to use insurance, I’m always happy to provide referral names to a provider that may accept your insurance.
